The Habitat Homeowner Family Habitat for Humanity of Dane County and the volunteers once again have made a dream come true for a family of a single mom. My name is Briceyda Trinidad and my daughter is Faith Trinidad and we are future homeowners. I grew up in a family of six; I lived the consequences and struggles of a hard working single mom, she worked two jobs to keep up with the expenses. Some days we wouldn’t even see her. We lived in a mobile home the kind of home with axels and tires on the bottom of it, so we often moved from place to place. As I became an adult, I tried to make things different for me; I always saw myself having my own family in a beautiful home definitely with no tires on the bottom of it, so this became my goal. I tried to go to college, but I didn’t get too far. I was a single mom to be and working two jobs during my pregnancy. I always made sure that my little one knew how much I loved her, and I remember singing to her my favorite song “With Arms Wide Open.” On July 9th 2001 I was blessed with a beautiful little girl, it is no lie, but at birth she smiled at the doctor all the way into my arms. Her big brown eyes exploring the room and her big smile attracted the attention of the staff at St. Mary’s. I played a big role on raising my brother and sister and therefore I feel very well prepared to raise my own, being single is what worries me the most. But friends and family have been supportive and I am completing my education by the end of April 2009. Habitat is one more blessing in our lives; they are giving me the opportunity to own my home. I won’t have to work two jobs to afford my mortgage. Knowing that I will not be missing out on my child’s life is a true blessing. My daughter Faith is a sweet 7 year old, loves gymnastics, monkey bars, likes to sing and dance (only in her room with the door shut). She loves to try new things, new foods, and to explore new places, she loves carrots and broccoli with ranch dressing for snacks. So far the only sport she doesn’t like is soccer. She likes to read, and write her own stories, she loves traveling on vacations every summer. One of her favorite movies is GREASE; she likes to sing along to the musical. We give thanks for all the time and work that everyone contributes to the projects of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County.
