The Hall Family The Hall Family I am so excited to have this opportunity to own my own home! I am the eighth of 10 children and my father died of a heart attack when I was three. My mother raised us until cancer took her life when I was 11. I moved around quite a bit after that, even living in foster care for a while. In the more challenging times I would take my mind's eye back to my mother’s home - the kids running through, neighbors dropping in, my mother always helping anyone in need - even an escaped pet skunk once! We were never rich but we loved our neighbors and the many people(s) who graced our home. Today I am a woman of 48 years, an ordained minister, and for the last 10 years have opened my home to older dogs in need of a place to live. Currently, I have two dogs: a Newfoundland named Luna who is a water rescue dog. She will not come out of the water until you make her :) If you go swimming, she will swim next to your left shoulder the entire time you are in the water and never take her eyes off of you. My other dog is a Border Collie/Burnese Mountain dog mix named Georgia. She jumps straight up 60 inches or more from a stand and she can catch a tennis ball on a high bounce like she catapulted off a trampoline. Both girls are 9 years old. Owning a home is the American dream. With the lessons of grace and community my mother instilled in me, and simply from my heart, I want to thank Habitat for this opportunity. And special gratitude to all the volunteers who are working on my home. You make this happen. Without your selfless generosity none of this would be happening. You are truly beautiful people. Peace, Kaet Hall
