Dane County Beginnings
In Dane County, as in many locations throughout the country, people of faith founded a local Habitat chapter. In the late 80's, a group of concerned Christians in Madison learned about Habitat and identified the need for decent affordable housing in Dane County. As a result, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County (HFHDC) was founded in 1987. Since that time, individual members of local faith communities have formed the foundation of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County, providing valuable financial, volunteer and prayer support. Although founded by Christians, HFHDC is non-denominational, and welcomes partnerships with all communities of faith.
