(MADISON, WI) – Employees of Thrivent Financial of Lutherans, representatives from the Oregon School District and members of five Oregon churches will help kick off construction of a Habitat for Humanity of Dane County home in Oregon on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. Construction of the home is being coordinated by the Oregon-Brooklyn Satellite Chapter of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County.
The First Nail Ceremony will include more than 50 representatives from the Oregon-Brooklyn chapter and the two families that will build with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County in 2009. The Borntrager/Miller Family: My name is Fannie Borntrager. I have two daughters, McKenzie, 24, and Tiffany, 16, my mom, Elizabeth and our mini dachschund, Lilly. I work at the UW Hospital as a certified nursing assistant. I love my job. McKenzie lives at home with us because she has a cognitive learning disability and seizures. Tiffany is in high school. My mom, Elizabeth Miller, lives with us too. We are all very excited to be building with Habitat. We are happy it will be handicap accessible for Elizabeth. That will make things so much easier for her. Thank You to Habitat for Humanity of Dane County and all the volunteers.
The Briceyda Trinidad Family: My name is Briceyda and my daughter is Faith Trinidad and we are future home owners of Habitat. I grew up in a family of six and my single mom worked two jobs to keep up with the expenses. Some days we wouldn’t even see her. We lived in a mobile home, so we often moved from place to place. I wanted a different life for my daughter and me. l recently completed my education and Habitat is giving me the opportunity to own my home. I won’t have to work two jobs to afford my mortgage. Knowing that I will not be missing out on my child’s life is a true blessing.
The ceremony for the fourplex will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at 800-818 Oregon Parks, Oregon. There remains homeownership opportunities for two families, which will be built in 2010. For more information go to www.habitatdane.org
