April 27, 2010
Habitat for Humanity of Dane County to Bless Home on Friday Friday, April 30, 4 p.m. 3505 Ridgeway Ave., Madison
(MADISON, WI) – A run down home on Madison’s Northeast side has been completely gutted and rehabbed by Habitat for Humanity of Dane County and its volunteers. After working on the home since September, 2009, it is now nearly complete and ready to be blessed this Friday, April 30 at 4 p.m. The home is fully insulated and includes new energy efficient windows.
Money raised to rehab the one-bedroom home came from proceeds from the Habitat ReStore on Cottage Grove Road. Homeowner Kaet Hall is expected to move into her home next month, which is located a block North of East Washington Avenue and South of Highway 51.
“I am so excited to have this opportunity to own my own home! I am the eighth of 10 children and my father died of a heart attack when I was three. My mother raised us until cancer took her life when I was 11. I moved around quite a bit after that, even living in foster care for a while. We were never rich but we loved our neighbors and the many people who graced our home,” said Kaet. “Owning a home is the American dream. With the lessons of grace and community my mother instilled in me, and simply from my heart, I want to thank Habitat for this opportunity and special gratitude to all the volunteers who are working on my home. You make this happen. Without your selfless generosity none of this would be happening. You are truly beautiful people.”
