Construction on the home began in May. Thanks to the following volunteers, donors and contractors for celebrating the next step in the building process: Mike Carlson, HFHDC; Howard and Theresa Smith, AB Electric; Village Officials Dean Otte and John Matthews; Randy Mergen of Mergen Plumbing; Dan Anderson, Habitat Deerfield; Eric Nelson, Nelson Young Lumber; Sigurd Bringe, Bank of Deerfield; and Deb Vande Watering, Habitat Deerfield.

Recent fundraising events for the Deerfield Satellite of Habitat for Humanity - Dane County:

  • A successful raffle initially generated $3,700, but subsequently generated more funds as some of the winners donated all or a portion of their winnings back to Habitat.  The drawing was held at the Cuda Café.
  • Income was also generated through a donation from the owners of Schuster’s Playtime Farm, who partnered with Habitat during their fall festivities.
  • The design for the home to be built in Deerfield is taking shape as architectural drawings proceed.
  • An informational meeting for potential homeowners was held on Oct.14 at the Deerfield Community Center.
  • Local construction supervisors are in place for a spring “blitz build.”
  • A brochure for local use is in the final stage of preparation.
  • We received our first corporate gift of $5,000 over a three year period from the Bank of Deerfield.
