Oregon-Brooklyn
The Oregon-Brooklyn Satellite is a group of volunteers committed to carrying out the Habitat mission to build simple, decent, affordable housing. Formed in 2003, the Oregon-Brooklyn satellite partners with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County in the planning, family selection and building of a local Habitat home. They have built five affordable homes since they were formed.
The chapter is now looking for volunteers to help with public relations, marketing and fundraising in preparation for the Spring 2009 build. If you have a little spare time each month (or a lot) we could use your help. As we get closer to groundbreaking in the Spring of 2009, we will also be looking for construction crew volunteers. If you are interested, please contact us at oregonhabitat@yahoo.com or Marcy Worzala at 835-1818 or Cal Gilbertson at 835-7387.
The homes built in 2004, 2006 and 2007 have been for the Ayala Family, Jackson Family, Brady Family, Skolaski Family and Szudy Family.
The Skolaski and Szudy home was completed in October. A blog about the contruction of the current duplex is posted here. Volunteer Robert Slottke is the author of this blog.
