Women Build -- Building more homes for those in need Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity of Dane County program that trains women to build homes and to help women address the problem of substandard housing and its effects on the health and well-being of children. Much more than a simple home construction project, the Women Build brings individuals and groups of women together to create something very special while engaging in activities that inspire a sense of community as well as personal accomplishment. When women come together in a supportive environment, the results are amazing! Thousands of houses have been built by women crews around the world. Since Women Build was formed in 1998, more than 1,400 homes have been built by women crews. In Dane County, the sixth Women Build project was completed in December, 2008 for the Kalisa-Uwamahoro family in the Twin Oaks subdivision in Madison. For more information about future Women Build projects, e-mail or call 255-1549.
