Help us serve more families and build more houses! The average Habitat home costs $90,000 to build, so we need your help to keep homes affordable.
Habitat for Humanity of Dane County (HFHDC) uses donations responsibly to affect change in our community. HFHDC received Charity Navigator's highest 4-Star Charity Rating from 2007-2010. Only 9% of the charities Charity Navigator rates have earned their 4-star rating for four consecutive years.
Here are some ideas to get your group started. Feel free to adapt any of these ideas to suit your group/community better. We can’t wait to hear your ideas!
For any fundraising event, keep a few things in mind:
Always coordinate your fundraising and publicity efforts with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County.
Before planning your fundraiser, contact Megan
Be familiar with Habitat for Humanity and its programs. Be able to answer questions about the organization’s mission and how it operates so you can establish credibility and communicate Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
Be clear that your event is supporting Habitat for Humanity of Dane County.
Any event can be an educational event if you provide participants with information about HFHDC. The affiliate can provide you with materials
Document all events as they are planned, and evaluate after completion, for future reference. Take lots of notes and share them with everyone involved.
Thank your contributors. One of the best ways to keep people excited about Habitat is to acknowledge their contributions. Always send a thank-you note and work with HFHDC to thank donors publicly!
